Karate Kid

As many of you may know, Martial Arts is a major part of my life.

Having trained in a few styles and now settling down and training hard in Goju Ryu Karate, do you have any stories you want to share about your Martial Arts Training??

Quote of the Week

"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times"  Bruce Lee

So much meaning behind this beautiful quote. Don't be afraid of someone that has been taught or practiced many things just once, but be more afraid or aware of someone that has been taught or has practiced one thing, many times.  As my instructor used to say, "practice makes perfect" and to perfect something, especially in martial arts, takes time, understanding, and constant practice.

Darkness Radio - Paranormal Radio Show

As a big fan of the paranormal, having witnessed and experienced a couple of “paranormal” things in my time, I love watching shows such as Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters, Finding Bigfoot, and Fact or Faked.

For the last 12 months, having started a new job where walking to work is more of a regular occurrence, I have been listening to a fantastic radio show, presented by Dave Schrader (one of the judges in Paranormal Challenge) and co-hosted by the very lovely Mallie Fox and the very cool Tim Dennis.  Their show, Darkness On The Edge of Town, which is available via their website www.darknessradio.com and via iTunesPodcast, is a brilliant 1 hour show which discusses things like ghosts, UFOs, bigfoot, and the very famous and intriguing Black Eyed Kids phenomena.

The show is THE best in paranormal podcasts/radio shows.  Not only does it intrigue and educate, I also find myself laughing to the very funny hosts who are very comical.  I recommend listening to Dave Schrader’s Don Johnson impression...

The show boasts some very exciting and leading guests who are well known within the world of the paranormal, not to mention the very scary stories from listeners during call ins.

I strongly suggest to anyone who has an interest in anything remotely paranormal tunes in and listens to this show.  It makes my 45 minute walk to work more exciting!

Back To The Future for DeLorean

Well well well, The world famous De Lorean DMC-12, the car made world famous in the 1985 Sci Fi comedy adventure film, Back To The Future will make it's debut in the USA in 2013.  Not only is it coming back but the first model will be electric and will be very cleverly known as Electric DeLorean.  The new electric model will cost around $95,000, will start being made in January and be delivered in February or March 2013.

The new DeLorean will stil have it's famous gull-wing doors, rear-mounted engine and stainless steel body.  It's powered by a 32  kilowatt-hour lithium-ion phosphate battery system. It’s still sporty, It also boasts a fantastic 0 - 60mph in less than six seconds! So we calculate hitting 88mph in about 8 seconds, although time travel is still not possible!

The DeLorean first started production in 1981/1982 in Dunmurry in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  It was manufactured by John DeLorean's DeLorean Motor Company, for the American Market.  It was a 2-door coupe with a 2849cc Engine, 150bhp and came in a 5-speed manual or 3-speed auto transmission.  It is believed that 9,000 of these vehicles were made before production was halted in 1982. Only 6,500 of these rare vehicles exist to this day!  We are very excited that the DeLorean is making a comeback, especially as a "green" version.

I wish they would follow this up by making Back to the Future Part 4.....

Life's Too Short.....

Stephen Merchant, Warwick Davis and Ricky Gervais
No, this is not a blog about someone on the verge of finding enlightenment or about someone who has wasted too much time in their lives worrying about non-sensical and trivial things rather than thinking about themselves.

“Life’s Too Short” is Ricky Gervais’ and Stephen Merchant’s new BBC2 Comedy/Mockumentary.

Ricky and Stephen are two of my most favourite comedy actors and writers.  From the days of The 11 O’clock Show, The Office (love Brent and the Og Monster) and of course Andy Millman and Extras, and let’s not forget Ricky’s untouchable and amazingly hilarious live stand-up shows, such as Animals, Politics, Fame and Science (love the dad wanking at daughter joke!)

“Life’s Too Short” centres around a middle-aged, middle-sized agent (small-sized really), who is perfectly and funnily acted by British legend Warwick Davis.  Warwick also co-wrote the series!
Warwick tries to use his past credentials of being an Ewok in Star Wars and that small weird goblin/elf/midget/dwarf (homage to The Office...) in Willow as a means of getting more business and clients, all of whom are of the small or little persuasion.

It’s yet another great, funny and enjoyable  series from the Masters of Comedy, which deliverers brilliant comedy and cringing moments, much like the unforgettable ”The Office” and of course the amazing “Extras” series.  Much like Extras, Life’s Too Short boasts a massive casts of Hollywood starts, such as Johnny Depp, Liam Neeson and Helena Bonham-Carter, not to mention cameos by Ricky and Stephen.

I won’t go into the detail around the workings and the details of the show, as I feel you should check this out yourself, but do watch it!  It’s shown on BBC every Thursday at 9.30pm.

TrollHunter....well done Norway!!

I watched Norwegian Horror film TrollHunter today.  Excellent film and I recommend it to everyone, as long as you dont mind reading the subtitles, unless of course you can understand Norwegian!!

"A group of students investigate a series of mysterious bear killings, but learns that there are much more dangerous things going on. They start to follow a mysterious hunter, learning that he is actually a troll hunter"

Trolls are quite a big thing in Norwegian folklore, and many Norwegians actually believe that they exist.

The film is filmed in your Blair Witch Project type way, as if seen though the eyes of the cameraman/woman, which adds to suspense and reality.  Countries of Scandanavia are very much in the picture now with recent films such as TrollHunter (Norway), Let Me In (Sweden) and Rare Exports (Finland).

If you like funny horror films and/or trolls, Norwegains etc then this is a must!!

Anuvahood....anuva brilliant Adam Deacon film!

Anyone who is a fan of Adam Deacon, KidultHood, Adulthood or any film depicting the street life of young Londoners MUST watch Anuvahood!!  This film goes beyond funny! It has to be one of the most funniest and enjoyable films I have seen for years. I just didn't want it to end.

The film is about Kenneth.....sorry...Kay, who is a young kid living on an estate in London (apparently the Portobelllo Rd estate according to my good friend). He's left his job, his mum and dad are proper pissed off and so is Kay for that matter.  With the family low on money all their belongings are taken away by some two bob bailiffs. Because of this Kay decides to man up and get all his parents belongings back. I wont tell you how, but what I will tell you is that whilst he is trying to get his parents things back, everything and anything happens.

I could not stop laughing from beginning to end and up until 2 days later!

Adam Deacon has always been one of my most favourite actors, from KidultHood to Dead Set. In Anuvahood has proved that Adam Deacon can be serious as well as very very very funny! Although it was a comical film, I thought the reality of of London life and street talk was absolutely spot on, which shows Adam's attention to details. Let's not forget that Adam Deacon wrote and directed this film.
You can follow Adam Deacon on Twitter - @realadamdeacon

I beg you to watch this film. If you don't you are really missingout! Its on on DVD Monday 5th July. make sure at lunch time you walk into your nearest Tescos, Sainsburys, Asda, Morrisons, HMV or any other shop that sells DVDs and buy it, ya get me blud!!!!
Oh and by the way Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace and Jaime Winstone are in it too....FIT!!!!!

Here is the trailer -

ENJOY!!!
